Scratching my head....

I arrived in Anderson, SC today to hang out tonight and all day tomorrow with my friend, Perry Noble, and a group of about ten other pastors.  The purpose of our gathering is to spend some time learning and sharing best practices, biggest mistakes and whatever else might be helpful. 

To tell you the truth, it's a real honor to be here.  In fact, this is definitely one of those head scratching, "how in the world did I end up here??" moments.  Most of these guys are much further along in the whole "pastoral leadership" journey, so I'm looking forward to absorbing and scribbling everything I can in my super slim and sexy Moleskine to take back home to chew on, wrestle with and become a better leader with.

That's it for now...  I'm determined to finish this book tonight before starting this one.

Steamy Valentine's Day

"Neat"

I was on IM w/ someone last night and they replied to something I said with these words: "That's neat." 

Now, is it just me or does "neat" seem like the type of response you would give to someone who shows you what they believe to be the COOLEST thing in the world, when in reality it's about as cool as my friend who tried wearing "man" capri-pants a few summers ago?

And think about what the word does to your facial expression.  Go ahead - say it.  "Neat."  Notice how your face contorts like you've just smelled the armpits of a junior high kids after gym class?

Scary...

There is nothing new under the sun, right?  Well... that just changed.  This past Sunday night, I became someone's costume at The Orchard's Fall Fun Festival. 

I don't know if I should be honored or scared...  :)

Twisted Elf

So I pulled up at a stop light this morning and there it was - smiling at me with its silly little grin holding some sort of toy or upside down mushroom. 

What is this thing???  Some sort of elf or little Santa man?  And why is he so happy at 6:55am??

This thing has been stalking my brain all day.  It's almost like he's offering me a hit, "Hey dude, have a hit of my mushroom...You won't be sorry!" 

I think I need counseling...

This thing sucks.

Halloween must be on its way... 

Walking through Walgreens minding my own business when this thing SCREAMS at me as I walk by it!!  Before I knew what was happening all 30 of them were doing it. 

Almost fell right into the diaper display behind me.
