Dim Sum Today

Enjoyed some wonderful Dim Sum with Mike & Kristen Jones and Ted & Kathryn Egly today.  Tried out Triple Crown in Westmont. 

Let's see....  Here's a sampling: Roast Pork Buns, Shrimp Dumplings, Pork Dumplings, Spring Rolls, Shrimp Rolls, Steamed Pork Ribs, Stir-fried Chinese Vegetables, Steamed Sticky Rice wrapped in Lotus Leaves stuffed with Chinese Sausage, Mushrooms, & Pork. 

Sorry, no Phoenix Talons (chicken feet). 

In case you're wondering....  Dim Sum is a Chinese cuisine that involves a wide range of small dishes - similar to Spanish tapas.  You can read more about it here.

Anthony Bourdain is hangin' in South Asia right now.  Kinda jealous.  Especially after what I just saw outside on my driveway.  Several inches.

Apple Insider's review of the new Apple iPod In-Ear Headphones.  I hate the standard headphones that they give with the iPhone and iPod.  C'mon, whose ears are shaped for those things???

Ben Arment has some good conversation happening on "mission statements" VS. "mantras." 

Found this new site.  If you're into design it's worth checking out.

Just downloaded a Christmas album called Advent Songs.  It's a nice, eclectic mix from the folks at Sojourn Music.  And it's free if you tell five people!

I have no idea why I thought of this, but did you know they have Shakey's Pizza in Tokyo?  I remember walking through the Takeshita-dori district (I think...) and seeing one.  For some reason that blew my mind.  Apparently, they're all over there.  Anywho.

Lastly, I've linked to this guy before, but holy smokes.....his amazing food photos make me miss Thailand like crazy!

Advent Conspiracy.......again!

I'm excited about our community being a part of Advent Conspiracy again this year!  This was an awesome experience for us last year as we had the rewarding opportunity to give a significant amount towards clean water projects in some really thirsty areas around the world.  (Learn more about what we were a part of here.)

Happy July 4th!

Having a relaxing morning at home with my girls watching a documentary on donuts (pure evil).  Heading out this afternoon to be with family for some great food and cold drinks.....and then, of course, fireworks!

Pickles..........on Pizza?

Ok, so Des Moines is known for pork tenderloin sandwiches and........Bacon Cheeseburger pizza? 

Hmmm...  Check this out:

Ground beef, onions, instead of red pizza sauce - a mix of ketchup and mustard (no lie!), cheese, bacon (somewhere on there...), and then get this...............topped with PICKLE slices! 

Believe it or not it was pretty good!  But only for a couple of slices...  I was done after that.  Too salty and mustard-y. 

Next time I'll have to try the spam and asparagus pizza. 

Or maybe the lemon pepper chicken.

Or perhaps the chili-dog. 

For real.  They have all of those.

But HONEY LATTE?  C'mon...

This is exactly what went through my head five minutes ago when someone approached my table here at Starbucks to offer me a sample of their newest drink - a honey latte.

So here I am sipping it...........

Sip #1: "Hmmm.....not very good." 

Sip #2: "Still not very good.  The honey aftertaste is buggin' me.  This just isn't right."

Sip #3: "Ok, no more.  I'm done."

Is this why they're getting rid of the almond syrup?

C'mon now.

What's next?  Lemon Latte?  Taco Latte?
