Journey Leading

Here’s a fact: Every person who walks through your church doors is at a different place in their spiritual journey.  

Think about it.  It’s true, isn’t it?

And it’s not just true, but it's also one of the most beautiful things in the world to me.  (Because let’s face it, if everyone really was at the same place, how boring would that be??)

And I know that for some of you, this all seems pretty elementary...  Yet, the more time that I spend around  pastors and church leaders, the more I’m amazed at how our awareness of this RARELY shows up in how we communicate and structure our ministry environments! 

And while we certainly don’t have it all figured out, I can tell you that there are some things that we are learning that have really helped us in our endeavor to reach our mostly unchurched community. 

So with that said.....  I’m going to spend some time over these next few days sharing some of our....I guess you could call them “best practices.”  Basically things that we are very intentional about doing at The Orchard that helps people recognize and hopefully.....at the end of the day, take their next step forward in their journey.

And I’ll start by sharing some of the things I try to be very intentional about in the way I communicate at our weekend gatherings.

what a simple but profound point. much like the more we dig into the bible and learn the more we realize that we actually know that much less.

I know it's random but it makes me think of a statement that a friend who happens to be a pastor made once...

I don't like the phrase "mature Christian" because if one was even capable of getting to that point, what is next?

I'll repeat the above statement,"What simple but profound point." I never thought going to church as being a spiritual journey, I never thought something was missing in my life. I ended up at the Orchard in an interesting way (I was really escaping from something) So glad I came Christmas Eve even better I stayed and now you can't get rid of me. Thank you Pastor Scott, your partners in crime and all my Orchard friends.
