Thinking about initiating a wide-scale change/transition initiative in your church or organization? Here are a couple of questions worth asking before you dive in...
Are we STRUCTURED for change?
Is your church or organization structured in a way that will allow the
RIGHT PEOPLE to lead and make decisions? If not - do not proceed past GO....do NOT collect $200!
First things first!!
If you're not structured for change, it doesn't matter how passionate or
committed you might be to it - there will always be a chance that the
wrong people could step in to infiltrate, hijack, or sabotage the transition.
Am I COMMITTED to change?
Perhaps the question should be.... "Am I committed to change - NO MATTER WHAT THE COST?"
Am I willing to lose people? Lose money? Lose popularity? Lose friendships? Maybe even lose buildings?
Listen to me........TRUE CHANGE is COSTLY! There will be a cost! And it will be painful. It will be felt.
There will be scars and bruises.
Are you up for it?
Consider that question! Because if you're NOT fully, 100% committed, you better think twice before diving in - for YOUR sake AND for the sake of those who will believe in your vision and stand by you.
The Jacquets are an awesome couple who showed up at The Orchard just a little less than a year ago. Since then, they have both been baptized and have taken huge steps forward on their spiritual journey. It's been amazing to watch God work in their lives...
For our Christmas Eve services this last December, we created a short video of Shaun and Leta sharing their story. It's DEFINITELY worth a watch and extremely moving.
(I was going to Twitter this because it didn't seem substantial enough to post, but no photos with Twitter. Plus, now that I've added this part it's beginning to feel more like an actual blog post. Which is good. Ok, now I'm rambling, so it's time to stop typing and get back to writing.)
What a weekend at The Orchard! Wow... Helicopter Easter Egg Drop packed with thousands of kids and parents....four high impact services launching our new series, “Smudged”.....record weekend attendance......incredible environments.....live rain on stage.....amazing volunteers who poured tons of heart and soul into creating great experiences......
Ok, you get the idea, right? It was an absolutely amazing weekend at The Orchard!
What sticks out the most? Helicopter Easter Egg Drop..... Wow. That was unbelievable! Our second year doing this and this year’s was BY FAR the best! The weather leading up to the event was exactly opposite of what we hoped for, but that morning things started looking better and by the time it started, the sun was shining beautifully!
People..... Wow, so many people! Definitely our largest attended weekend ever at The Orchard. I haven't received the final numbers yet, but I do know that we had more than 1600 people attend one of four services. And what was really interesting was that our Saturday services were the highest attended!
Our Team....... I can’t even begin to describe how proud I am of our team! Both paid and unpaid. They were amazing!! The energy that everyone brought to this weekend was incredible. The ownership, the excitement, the “whatever it takes” attitude.... It was all over the place.
Live Rain...... We closed out each service with the song,
“Unwritten” and in the middle of the song had LIVE RAIN pouring down on
stage. It was awesome!!!
